NEVER THE SINNER by John Logan
Directed by Nicholas Opolski
‘Never the Sinner’ is a retelling of one of the most notorious cases in American history, the murder of a 14 year old boy by Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb. Their arrest and trial was reported in detail by a press that were outraged and intrigued by the two young killers. For District Attorney Crowe, there was no question they would hang; but Clarence Darrow was determined the killing should stop. The play moves fluidly between the courtroom, the press response, and the complex private world of Leopold and Loeb.
It contains challenging roles for seven actors, including showcase roles for two young men. All actors will need an American accent, and be comfortable with complex dialogue and adult themes.
